Landscape, a Slightly Different View


Keith Salmon is a landscape painter who lives in Scotland. Visually impaired, Keith has spent years creating sweeping images on the Scottish highlands. Keith is working with researcher Neel Joshi and others to create an interactive audio and visual installation based on recently developed sonification technology.

Keith spoke recently at Microsoft Research about his work, about ways in which visual impairment has affected his art practice, and his excitement in working with the sonification technology.

Check out this interactive sculpture from artist Aduén Darriba Frederiks at Remix, the Seattle Art Museum’s summer party at the Museum’s Olympic Sculpture Park. Frederiks was a studio99 Artist in Residence at Microsoft Research during the summer 2015.
