The Seattle Gigapixel Art Zoom

Having created gigapixel-sized (multi-billion pixel) images of cities, we found them fascinating to explore, but also surprisingly devoid of the most exciting part of a city, its people. Matt Uttendayle, Michael Cohen, Cindy Ball, and John Boylan set out to produce an image populated with interesting things to find, and the Seattle Gigapixel ArtZoom project was born. Remnance of Form is an interactive installation, by the artist Sang-won Leigh, that explores the dynamic tension between an object and its shadow. By fusing light, projection, and motion technologies, the shadow can now detach itself from its former role.
